THIRD ROOT CONSORT
This group is a dream come true for me. This is a quintet that celebrates de african roots of Mexican music. It features L.A.’s own vocalist/zapateadora Martha Gonzalez (from Quetzal fame), legends Justo Almario (tenor saxophone) and Abraham Laboriel (electric bass). This project is so promising and we have done so much beautiful music already. I cannot wait to hit again with all these heroes of mine.

 

THE PRETTY BONITOS
I am just too excited about this band. It features some of my favorite musicians. It is also a project very dear to me, because it is “flushed out” of our experience playing together in Gurrisonic. It is a collective exploratory effort. The members are Gavin Templeton on woodwinds, Alexander Noice on electric guitar, Eric KM Clark on violin, and yours truly on drum set. We are all composing tunes, and it will be so fun!!!!!!

THE LOVE QUARTET
We did this cut early 2013, I love this project. I composed music to all these beautiful drawings from my three amazing sons. With the brilliant Phil O’Connor on bass clarinet, Dave Tranchina on double bass, Jon Armstrong on soprano sax, and me on drum set. I hope to keep this band going soon…
